Dear Reader,
This week's recipe is a nutrient-rich juice that combines orange, lemon, and melon, three fruits known for their high citrate and water content. Citrates found naturally in citrus fruits may help reduce the formation of certain kidney stones, particularly calcium oxalate stones. Melon also contributes hydration and alkalizing properties that support overall urinary health.
Health Benefits
May help reduce the risk of certain kidney stones
Supports hydration
Natural diuretic properties
Rich in antioxidants
Helps maintain a healthy urinary system
Excellent source of vitamin C
Ingredients
Makes 2 servings (approximately 250 mL each)
4 medium oranges
1 medium lemon
2 slices of melon (cantaloupe or any sweet melon variety)
Preparation
Wash and peel the oranges and lemon.
Remove any seeds.
Blend the oranges, lemon, and melon until smooth. If preferred, use a juicer for the citrus fruits before blending with the melon.

Nutrition Tip of the Week
While citrus fruits are rich in natural citrates that may help reduce the risk of certain kidney stones, this juice is not a substitute for medical treatment. Kidney stones vary in type, and dietary recommendations differ depending on the stone composition. If you have kidney stones or recurrent symptoms, consult your healthcare provider for proper evaluation and individualized advice.
